Wordless Wednesday-April 30

I am linking up with Christina at Sugar and Spice for her Wordless Wednesday linky party.
After a full day of indoor recess - April Showers - I am absolutely in need of some of those May Flowers.  Anyone else?

A Peek at my Week-April 22-25

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  Ours was four days long!  I even managed to go for a run every day!  Our new kitty is fitting in very nicely!  Cassie still follows Jax everywhere he goes but at least she has stopped growling at him.  I think they will be the best of friends.

Today I am linking up with Jennifer of Mrs. Laffin's Laughings for A (brief) Peek at my Week.
The highlights of this short week are Geometry Jeopardy (my kids go c-r-a-z-y for Jeopardy!), starting a new read aloud - The Lemonade War (we just finished "Out of my Mind"), starting our Ancient Civilizations projects, and Jump Rope 4 Heart.  We also will be connecting art to geometry with a 3-D art/perspective piece.  (Drawing 3-D figures is so tricky.)  Photos to follow next week.  :)

Here are some photos from last week and the weekend.
Miss A has been continuing to make the library awesome!

A Peek at my Week - Apr. 14-17

Happy Sunday!  Spring is finally here!  Yahoo!  I am linking up with Jennifer at Mrs. Laffin's Laughings for A Peek at my Week.  This is a four day week - followed by a four day weekend!
Literacy/Social Studies:  We will continue learning about Ancient Egypt through shared reading, Reader's Theatre, and Literature Circles.  This will be my first time introducing literature circles this year so I will start with everyone doing the same role.

Math:  In math we will be learning about 3-dimensional solids (geometry strand) and I will connect that with volume and capacity (Measurement strand).  We will begin our unit with a sort in groups of 2 or 3.  I want each group to decide how they are going to sort the shapes, record their sorting rule, put the solids in the correct category, and share with the class.

Art:  Our "Falling" perspective art is nearly all finished - just those 1 or 2 left.  They have turned out great.  Here are a couple of them that are now hanging in our school Art Gallery.

This past week we agreed to foster a(n other) cat.  Hey, did you know that 'foster' is code for 'adopt'?  How could we ever give this little guy up?  We can't.  So please meet our newest family member, Jax.
And speaking of Jax, they are shooting a movie in my little old city starring Charlie Hunnam (who plays 'Jax' in 'Sons of Anarchy').  My mom and I went walking around downtown yesterday and this is what we saw.

Have a great week!

A Peek at my Week-April 6-10

After I posted my post yesterday, I realized that it was my 100th post!  Wowza!  I hope you had a great weekend!  Mine was filled with awesome family and delicious meals!  Tonight I am linking up with Jennifer at Mrs. Laffin's Laughings for A Peek at my Week.
Mrs. Laffin's Laughings
In Literacy, we are typing up the good copies of our myths, reading about Ancient Civilizations in our guided reading groups, and learning about non-fiction text features.
In Math, we are learning about millimetres, centimetres, decimetres, metres, and kilometres and how to convert between the units.  This is really tricky for my little friends.  We will solve problems like this in partners or groups of three.
In Gym, we are learning basketball skills.  Maybe I should show them this!
On Wednesday, we wear pink for the International Day of Pink - to celebrate diversity and stamp out bullying.  What does your week have in store for you?

Saturday Morning Catch Up

I hope you all have had a great week!  We were very busy in Grade 4.  First of all, we read like crazy!
Our fabulous pen pal class (Jennifer at Mrs. Laffin's Laughings) sent us the best book ever!  My students actually chanted:  "Read it!  Read it!  Read it!" when I would try to stop.
We also did a combined math/DPA (Daily Physical Activity) game.  We each had a clock on our string tags.  The music started and the students had to walk briskly around the room high-fiving each other.  When the music stopped, each person found the closest new partner.  They compared their times and calculated the elapsed time between the two.  Then the music started again.  It was really fun!
Finally, in art we worked on our falling pictures.  They are turning out very nicely!

Have a great Saturday!

April Currently

Happy Tuesday!  I am linking up with Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade for April Currently.
Listening - My husband is watching 'Dangerous Flights'.  He loves everything airplane so most nights he watches one of his many favourite flying shows (Ice Pilots, Mayday, Airplane Repo).
Loving - Need I say more?  So long Snow!  We have spent far too much time together this year.
Thinking - My Grade 4's are getting cuter each and every day!
Wanting - Our playground is still somewhat frozen and has a nasty wet dog smell.  I guess we need some rain to fix that.
Needing - My fitbit says I average 7 ½ hours each night but it sure doesn't feel like it.  This girl is TIRED!
Last Day - Well my American friends, do you see a problem here?  Think of your friends North of the border when you are all celebrating your summer holidays in May and June...  Our last day for kidlets is June 26th, and June 27th for teachers.

Miss A has been busy in the library again.  In case you can't read the sign, it says:  Why did the chicken go to the library?  To get out a good "bawk, bawk, bawk"!
