Summer Catch Up

It's the last weekend of the Summer!  Happy Labour Day weekend!  I'm going to catch you up on the last week or so.

I finished setting up my room.  I'm going to keep my students' duo tangs in these IKEA boxes.  They were a bit boring, so I spruced them up with some Duck Tape.  Yes - it's actually called "Duck" tape.  That's the brand!  Lol!
I'm going to start the year with Number Boggle:
Then, we flew to Cape Cod.  We always go there the week before school starts.  The weather this year was the nicest ever!  One of my BFFs, Rebecca, came with us, and my brother and his family were there too.
Nantucket Airport - from TV show "Wings"
I love these cobblestone streets in Nantucket!

Well, that's it.  Goodbye Summer Break!  You were a great one!

I'm linking up with Jennifer at Mrs. Laffin's Laughings for A Peek at my Week!
Things are getting into full swing around here.  We have two more weeks before school starts.
On Monday, I'm going to do a bit of puttering around at school.  I have some binders that I want to clean out and organize a bit better.  Perhaps one binder for each science strand?  Then I'm going to help my sweet friend, Tara, play with her new SMART Board.
On Tuesday, I'm going to school in the morning, and then having lunch with my mom.
On Wednesday and Thursday, our Board is offering a variety of technology workshops - such as "Using Web Tools and Apps to Engage Students in Learning".  It should be great!  I'll let you know if I learn some awesome tricks.
Last night, my husband and I went for a fundraising dinner for an amazing young man, Drew Cumpson.  Check out his story here.
Have a great Sunday!  Enjoy every moment of it.

4.  We celebrated our 14th year anniversary on Tuesday.  :-)
5.  We returned home safely from our trip to The Outer Banks, N.C. and New York City.  We had an awesome time!  On Monday, my Fitbit said we walked over 20 000 steps!  (My poor husband is not a huge fan of walking.)  On Tuesday, we rented the Citibikes and rode 20 000 steps.  LOL!

Happy Friday!!

The Sweetest Thing's Fabulous Bundle #1

Hello My Friends!  I hope you have had an excellent week!  My friend Lauren, from The Sweetest Thing, is letting me give away one of her amazing Levelled Non-Fiction Texts Year Long Bundle #1.
This bundle contains 11 different units:

I got to check out Lauren's unit on Globalization.  This unit alone is jam-packed with 85 pages of material.  There are eight topics in this package alone and each text is provided in three different Lexile levels - below grade level, on grade level, and above grade level.  Each passage also has three different 'Close Reading and Responding' pages - Within the Text, About the Text, and Beyond the Text.  There are even answer pages included!  One thing I especially appreciated about this resource is the excellent reading passages.  You will find so many non-fiction text features:  maps, charts, photographs...  They are visually appealing.  Lauren has created a highly engaging resource that children will love.  I can't even begin to imagine how much time Lauren has spent on this.  This product is a bargain at $45 - but you could win your own copy by entering the Rafflecopter below.  :-)

August Currently and a Delicious Recipe

I am linking up with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade for her monthly Currently linky.

I really love the design this month!!  August is a pretty exciting month for me.  This is when my self-employed hard-working (read 7 days a week!) husband takes a bit of time off.  We are meeting my BFF and her husband in Kill Devil Hills, NC for a wee vacation.  I can't wait!  After a few days with our friends, my hubby and I are going to pop up to New York City for our anniversary before we return home.  Do you see why I'm so excited?  The best of both worlds:  beach and shopping.

Before I go, I have a most delicious recipe to share with you.  This was the first time I made this recipe for Peanut Butter Bars but boy were they delicious!!!  Click on the photo to get the recipe from allrecipes.
Have a great weekend - and a great long weekend to the Canadians out there.
